These TCI are steroid-free topical treatments.
They are not more efficient than topical steroids but may be useful if you have chronic atopic dermatitis, especially on the face or eyelids.
They may also be useful on other body locations during the maintenance phase to prevent flare-ups. Both tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are safe to use in children and adults.
There is no evidence that topical calcineurin inhibitors may cause cancer.
These products do not cause stretch marks, but may cause a stinging sensation, especially at the beginning of treatment.
